The sketch depicts the month of Sawan, the fifth month of the Hindu calendar that is often shown with the onset of monsoon rains, as seen here. The image shows a royal couple standing on the balcony underneath an awning. Below them is a female attendant entering the palatial structure. Beyond the walls surrounding the palace is a lush jungle that depicts a prowling tiger or lion and elephants combating. Rajput Style, Kota School.
