1800-1850
The painting features a figure of royal status, denoted by the ornament and black plume in his turban and the attendant behind him holding up a white scarf. He sits under an awning on an enclosed outdoor terrace, on a red rug and against large red pillows. Next to him is a male figure wearing a pink turban and white translucent robe (jama). In front of the two men is a large man with a dark complexion. He wears blue and white striped trousers and a white turban and rode. He holds up a long list in his hand, and his most likely reading aloud its contents.
