Sitter information: Capt. Rowley. Richard Thomas Rowley (1812-11 November 1887) MP for Harwich 1860-1865. Captain Royal Scots Guards. Second sone of the 1st Baron Langford of Summerhill County Meath. First married to Charlote (d. 29 June 1871) daugher of Lt. Colonel Shipley on 24 June 1835. Second marriage to Alice Berners (d. 7 August 1884) on 9 July 1872. [Summerhill was one of the finest country houses in Ireland, Kaiserin Elizabeth of Austria rented it when she hunted in Ireland for two seasons. It was burnt by republicans in 1922 and finally demolished in 1955.) Sir Henry Ewart. Major General Sir Henry Ewart (1838-6 April 1928). GCVO., KCB., Life Guards, retired 1892. Served in the Egyptian campaign of 1882 and in the Suakin Expedition of 1885. Groom in Waiting to Queen Victoria 1884-1894. Crown Equerry from 1890. Married Lady Evelyn (d. 15 January 1924) daughter of the 1st Earl of Ancaster on 3 November 1888.
