1886
The original work is a painting by Lorenzo Lotto from c. 1504 - 1505, at the Gallerie Nazionale di Capodimonte, Naples. The artist identifies the original as a work by Holbein, but this is incorrect. It is unclear if this was a previous attribution or just the artist's error.
53.1 x 35.4 cm (20 7/8 x 13 15/16 in.)
Gift (?) of the artist to Denman W. Ross, Cambridge, MA; his gift to the Fogg Art Museum, 1919.
