600-500 BCE
Wheelmade lamp with shallow body, rounded walls, angular shoulder, and concave rim that slopes slightly downward to large filling hole. Small, rounded, bridged nozzle. Slightly convex floor of oil chamber terminates in a low, conical point. Vaguely obtuse angle separates base from wall and delineates the former. Conical convexity at center creates corresponding convexity at floor of interior. Orange fabric. Streaky glaze with metallic sheen ranging in color from dark brown to dark orange-red. Applied in a swirl pattern on floor of oil chamber and on rim. Dipped nozzle with similar variation in color. Walls and base unslipped. Gray incrustation on much of underside.
