Koumasa Ware Spouted Jug on Three Feet

Description
Round handle. 5 // lines on neck which do not encircle entire neck. Butterfly or "double-axe" mottif below shoulder on front (opposite side of handle), which is flanked by 2 large triangular areas of tightly controlled lines which are drawn together at a point below the handle on the belly. 2 rows of crosshatch on front. an "X" painted on bottom inside of feet. Black on buff. Spout broken off. pitted, voids, chips, and very worn. Lime pops.

Gift of the Schimmel Foundation. Found on the slope of Palaiskastro, Crete, direction to Praisos.
