The book was originally issued in fifteen sections by Charles Scribner's Sons, New York, and sold bysubscription. Each section consists of text illustrated by photo-mechanical illustrations and is supplemented by photogravures and a color illustration. Most of the pages for each section remain uncut, each section has its own paper wrapper.
