Dr. MacDonald was a Lieutenant-Colonel and the private surgeon to the Duke of Wellington, and was with the Duke through the Peninsular Campaign and finally in the battles that resulted in the abdication of Napoleon as Emperor. Christina Ogston (1825-1908) emigrated from Scotland to Whitby, Ontario (Canada) in 1836, and was married January 21, 1858 to Mr. George Begg (1817-1904) also of Whitby, Ontario. The Beggs emigrated to the United States at Detroit, Michigan in 1858, and their son, George Ogston Begg (1859-1950) was born in Detroit September 2, 1859. George O.
