Giovacchino Ferroni [1], Rome, (by 1905-1905), sold [2]; to Edward Waldo Forbes, (March 1905-June 1905), gift; to Fogg Art Museum, 1905. [1] Sometimes also referred to as Gioacchino Ferroni or Joachim Ferroni; Ferroni was an Italian dealer and collector, based first in Florence, then in Rome (life dates: 1854-1909). [2] A receipt from Ferroni, dated 19 March 1905, is in the curatorial object file. Note: This stele was formerly thought to have been in the Nani di San Trovaso family collection (Venice), also known as the Museo Nani; however, this collection attribution remains unsubstantiated and is likely a misunderstanding.
