5th-7th century
Design of birds and foliage in dark yellow, brown, light yellow, light blue and white yarns on a bright red ground. Large birds among foliage are separated by lozenges containing a line of three small birds in a row surrounded by a border of dots. A human head with green hair is visible in the top left, at the point in the design where two lozenges would meet (the second is now lost). Around the red band is a border of yellow vine scrolls against a brown background. The band features two right-angled turns, giving a suggestion of its original shape. The warp is dark in color.
