The sketch was made on a folded sheet of Royal Academy letterhead; in red, it is printed "Royal Academy of Arts / London, W. / 190__" The side with the face and heads is folded inside. The two male heads depict the same man.

Murray lived at 1A Langham Chambers, Portland Place, London.
