Part of a hoard of 52 tetradrachms and drachms from Amphipolis (published as Inventory of Greek Coins Hoards, no. 368). According to the Dewing card, this coin was part of a hoard discussed by dealer Henri Hoffmann in Le Numismate: Bulletin périodique de numismatique, vol. 19 (May 1963) and by J. de Witte in Revue Numismatique (new series), vol. IX (1864), no. 88, but there is no illustration to verify. 2. Sir Hermann Weber (1823-1918). The coin was published in L. Forrer, The Weber Collection, vol. 2 (1924), no. 1964, pl.75. 3. William Harrison Woodward (1855-1941). This coin was published in Edward Stanley Gotch Robinson, Ancient Greek Coins in the Possession of William Harrison Woodward (1928), no. 1964, no. 149, pl. X. 4. Arthur Stone Dewing (1880-1971). According to Dewing's inventory card, he purchased the coin from Jacob Hirsch via a letter dated October 15, 1945, for $3,050.
